Frequently Asked Questions

How much gravel do I need for my driveway?

Figuring out how much gravel you need for your driveway is easy with our gravel calculator. Just provide the length, width, and depth of the driveway, and you'll get a quick estimate using the calculator above.

How much gravel do I need for my garden project?

To calculate how much gravel you require for your garden project, you must know the approximate area you are working with, and the desired depth. For gardens, this can be trickier as the shape may not be a simple square. We recommend extending this to make it a square to ensure you have enough coverage.

What depth do I need to lay my gravel at?

Normally, you'd lay any gravel that is up to 20mm in size using a layer about 35mm deep. But for driveways, it should be at least 50mm deep. Bigger gravel sticks together better. The depth you choose depends on the gravel size and how you'll use the surface.
